Intramural sports provide exercise, recreation, competition, and fun to participants in a relaxed, yet structured environment. Intramurals offer the thrill of competition while placing an emphasis on fairness and sportsmanship for teams and individuals.

The first intramural sports departments were established at Ohio State University and the University of Michigan in 1913. Elmer Mitchell, a graduate student, at the time, was named the first Director of Intramural Sports at the University of Michigan in 1919 and the first recreational sports facility in the country opened at the University of Michigan.

Contests, meets, leagues, and tournaments will be offered in various formats. Come play what suits you! Intramural Sports offers USC students, faculty and staff the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports at various levels of competition. Participation is more leisurely than Club Sports as competition ranges from one-day tournaments to six-week leagues.
